About Screen Recorder

A screen recording is the easiest way to show someone how to do something, report a problem or save a moment on screen. Press Start and your browser shows what you can share: the whole screen, a single window or one tab. Pick one and the recording begins, with a timer so you can see how long it has run.

You can pause and resume, and stop here or with the stop sharing button your browser shows. The video then appears in a player so you can check it before saving. Choose 15, 30 or 60 frames a second. Sound from the screen is included when your browser offers it, which is usually when you share a tab.

Frequently asked questions

Does it record my voice?

No. This recorder captures the screen and, when offered, the sound playing from it. Microphone audio is not mixed in. Use the voice recorder if you need to record yourself separately.

Why is there no sound?

Your browser only offers sound from the screen in some cases, usually when sharing a tab, and you may need to tick a box in its sharing window.

What format is the video?

The format your browser records in, usually WebM, which plays in browsers and most video players.

How big will the file be?

It depends on what is on screen and how long you record. A minute can be anything from a few megabytes to over 100.

Which frame rate should I choose?

30 suits most demos. 60 gives smoother motion for games and animation but makes larger files. 15 is fine for slides and documents.
