About Webcam Test
Before an interview or a meeting you want to know that your camera works and how good it looks. Press Start and allow the camera to see the live picture. The table underneath lists the name of the camera, the picture size it is actually delivering, the shape and the frame rate it reports.
You can ask for a resolution from 640 by 480 up to 4K. If the camera cannot supply it, the table shows what it settled on, which is a quick way to find the true limit of the camera. If you have several cameras, choose between them. Mirror mode shows the view like a mirror, and the photo button saves what you see as a PNG.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the page ask for permission?
Browsers ask before any page can use the camera. The camera starts only when you press the button, and stops when you press it again.
The picture is black. What should I check?
Check the lens cover or shutter, the privacy switch on the laptop, and that no other program is using the camera.
Why is the resolution lower than I asked for?
The camera or the connection cannot supply it. Many webcams only give their top resolution at a lower frame rate.
Why is the frame rate low in a dim room?
Cameras lengthen the exposure in poor light, which lowers the frame rate. Add a light in front of you.
Is the saved photo mirrored?
Only if mirror mode is on, so the photo matches the preview. Turn it off for text to read correctly.
