About Audio Speed Changer
Slowing a lecture or a voice note down helps you take it in, and speeding it up saves time. This tool changes the speed of a recording between a quarter and four times the original. By default it keeps the pitch the same, so voices do not turn into chipmunks or growls.
It works by joining small overlapping pieces of the sound, choosing the join points that match best. This is very good for speech and fine for most music. If you want the tape or record effect, where pitch rises and falls with speed, switch the pitch option and the sound is simply played faster or slower. The new length is shown before you process the file.

Frequently asked questions
What does keeping the pitch mean?
The voice or notes sound at the same height even though the timing changes. Without it, faster sounds higher and slower sounds lower.
What speeds sound best?
Between 0.75 and 1.5 times sounds natural with the pitch kept. Extreme speeds can sound rough or echoey.
Why is processing slow for long files?
Keeping the pitch needs a search for the best join in every small piece of the sound. Changing the pitch with the speed is much quicker.
Can I change the speed of a video?
This tool changes the sound only. You can open the sound track of a video, but the picture is not included in the result.
Does the original file change?
No. A new WAV file is saved.
