About Split Image into Grid

Splitting a picture into a grid lets you post one big image across several tiles, which is how many people build a striking profile page. Choose the number of columns and rows, check the orange lines on the preview and each piece is cut out for you. Buttons set the common layouts such as 3 by 3 and 3 by 1.

If the picture does not divide exactly, the spare pixels are shared out so no edge is lost. With the posting order option on, the tiles are numbered so the first one to post is number 1, which means the last tile of the picture is posted first and the picture builds up correctly on a profile. Download tiles one at a time or all together in a zip file.

Frequently asked questions

In what order should I post the tiles?

Newest posts appear first on a profile, so the bottom right tile goes up first. With posting order on, tile 1 is the one to post first and the highest number goes last.

What shape should my picture be?

Match the grid. A square works for 3 by 3, and a wide picture three times as wide as it is tall works for 3 by 1.

How many tiles can I make?

Up to 20 columns and 20 rows. The page shows the first 60 tiles as previews and the zip contains all of them.

Are the tiles the same size?

They differ by at most one pixel when the picture does not divide evenly.

Which file type is best?

JPG keeps tiles small for posting. Choose PNG if you want no loss at all.
