Five attempts averaged
Five attempts of 240, 255, 230, 248 and 262 milliseconds
Each attempt listed in milliseconds, with an average of 247 ms.
The average is the total of the five times, 1,235 ms, divided by five, which gives 247 ms.
A quicker set of attempts
Five attempts of 210, 225, 218, 230 and 214 milliseconds
Each attempt listed in milliseconds, with an average of 219.4 ms.
Times are measured from the moment the green appears, so a lower number means a quicker response.
Reaction Time Test について
A reaction time test measures how long it takes you to respond to a signal, which is useful for checking your speed of response in everyday tasks. This test asks you to wait until the box turns green, then click or press the space bar as quickly as you can. You get five attempts, and the test works out your average and your best time at the end. Times are shown in milliseconds, where one second is one thousand milliseconds, so small differences are easy to see.
The test is designed to be fair. The green signal appears after a random wait of between one and a half and five seconds, so you cannot predict the moment it will change. If you click before the green appears, the attempt does not count and you can try it again. Each valid attempt is measured from the moment the green appears to the moment of your click. Results can change from day to day, so repeating the test a few times gives a more reliable picture of your typical speed.
Reaction Time Test の使い方
- Click the box or press space to start attempt one.
- Wait for the box to turn green. Do not click while it is red.
- Click or press space as soon as the green appears.
- Repeat until you have completed all five attempts.
- Read your average and best times, then press Start again to repeat.
主な使いみち
- Checking how quickly you respond before driving or playing a fast game.
- Seeing whether tiredness, caffeine or a short rest changes your timing.
- Practising to improve your response in sports or other activities.
- Comparing results between devices or with a different mouse or keyboard.
よくあるご質問
What is an average reaction time?
Many adults have a visual reaction time of roughly 200 to 300 milliseconds in a simple test like this one. Times below 200 milliseconds are quick, and times above 350 milliseconds are slower. Your score can vary a lot between attempts, so the average of five attempts is a better guide than any single result.
Why did my click not count?
A click made before the box turns green is treated as too soon, so it does not count. The test then asks you to try the same attempt again. This keeps your scores fair, because a click made before the signal would be a guess rather than a reaction.
How are the times measured?
The timer starts at the exact moment the box turns green, and it stops when you click or press the space bar. Each time is rounded to the nearest millisecond. The average is the total of the five valid times divided by five, rounded to the nearest whole millisecond.
Can I improve my reaction time?
Many people find that regular practice helps them feel more relaxed and respond more consistently. Getting enough sleep, staying hydrated and taking breaks from screens can also help. Keep your finger resting lightly on the mouse or key, so that your response is quick and natural when the signal appears.
Does the device I use change the result?
It can. Screens, mice, keyboards and the speed of the computer can all add small delays to your time. For the most useful comparison, use the same device, the same position and the same time of day each time you run the test, and then compare your averages rather than single results.
