1. What this policy is for

This Fair Use Policy applies to everyone who uses valtrinity.com. It sits alongside our Terms of Service.

Every plan has caps, and this page states them. Unlimited includes 1,000 lookups a day, 150 runs of Unlimited tools a day, 1,000 bulk targets a day and 600 minutes of transcription a month. The caps exist to keep the service reliable for everyone and to keep it sustainable. Normal use stays well inside them.

2. Caps for each plan

Daily caps reset at midnight UK time. Monthly caps reset at the start of each calendar month, UK time.

Team, Business and EnterpriseAs for Unlimited, unless your order or invoice says otherwiseAs stated in your order

We also apply short term rate limits, measured per minute, so that no single user can slow the service for others. They are set well above normal use.

When you reach a cap, we show a clear message that says which cap you reached and when it resets.

3. Transcription minutes

Each file you transcribe uses minutes from your allowance, based on the length of the audio or video. Unlimited includes 600 minutes each calendar month, and each file can be up to 180 minutes long. A single transcript bought on its own is for one file of up to 90 minutes. If you have used your monthly minutes, you can buy a single transcript for a file or wait until the next calendar month. We also apply a daily limit on the total minutes transcribed across the whole site, so on a very busy day the Video Transcriber may ask you to try again later. Uploaded media and transcripts are kept only for the periods in our Privacy policy.

4. What happens when a cap is exceeded

When you reach a daily cap, further runs of that kind are refused until the cap resets at midnight UK time. When you reach the monthly transcription cap, new transcriptions on your plan are refused until the next calendar month. Caps are enforced on our servers and cannot be bypassed by using a different browser or device. Reaching a cap is not a breach of this policy. Trying to get around one is.

5. Changing the caps

We may change these caps from time to time, for example to keep the service running well. The figures on this page are the figures we apply. We will give notice of a change by updating this page and the date at the top. If a change significantly reduces what a current subscriber has bought, we will also tell them by email or on the site before it takes effect, and the cancellation rights in our Terms and Refunds page apply.

6. One person, one account

An account is for one person. You must not:

  • share your login with anyone else;
  • resell access to the service or its results;
  • use the service as a data feed or to power another product or service;
  • scrape or copy data from the service in bulk;
  • use several accounts to get around a cap.

If you work in a team and each person needs access, each person needs their own account, or a Team, Business or Enterprise plan.

7. Heavy or automated use

We may slow down or block heavy automated use. We may do the same for use that costs us an unusually high amount to provide, even if it is inside the caps above. We do this to protect other people who use the service. Where we can, we will tell you why. This is an automated safeguard, and a person can review it if you contact us.

8. If the policy is broken

If you break this policy, we will usually act in steps. The steps depend on how serious the breach is. In a serious case we may skip steps.

  1. Warning. We email you and explain what we saw.
  2. Throttling. We slow down your use.
  3. Suspension. We pause your access.
  4. Termination. We close your account.

If we close your account and you were not at fault, we will refund the unused part of your current plan. If the closure is because you broke this policy, we are not required to refund the unused part, except where the law says otherwise. Our Refunds page explains your rights.

9. Asking for higher caps

If you need more than these caps allow, email [email protected]. Tell us what you need and why. We can often agree a custom arrangement, for example under a Team, Business or Enterprise plan.
