The full height is kept and 500 pixels are trimmed from each side.

About Social Image Size Cropper

Each place you post a picture wants a different shape. A square post, a tall full-screen story, a wide banner and a link preview image all crop the same photo in different ways, and letting a network crop it for you can cut off the part that matters, such as a face or a product name.

Choose your picture and the size you need from nine common options. The picture is scaled to cover the frame, and you decide what is kept with a zoom and a left-to-right and top-to-bottom focus. The preview shows exactly what you will get, and the download is at the exact pixel size listed, as a JPEG or a PNG. If your picture is smaller than the size you ask for, it has to be enlarged, and the page tells you because it may look soft.

Frequently asked questions

Are these sizes official?

They are commonly recommended sizes and proportions. Networks change them from time to time, so check the current size for the place you are posting.

What do the focus boxes do?

When the picture is a different shape from the frame, some of it has to be cut. The left-to-right and top-to-bottom numbers choose which part is kept. 50 and 50 keeps the middle.

Why does the page warn the picture is small?

If your picture has fewer pixels than the size you picked, it is stretched to fill the frame, and stretched pictures look soft. Start from a larger original if you can.

Which format should I save?

JPEG gives smaller files for photographs. PNG keeps sharp edges and is better for pictures with text, logos or flat colour.

Is my picture changed or resized permanently?

No. The tool makes a new cropped file for download and leaves your original untouched.
