About Part-Time Salary Calculator
Jobs are usually advertised with a full-time salary, even when the hours are part-time. A part-time salary is the full-time pay multiplied by your hours as a share of a full-time week, so a job paying £32,000 for 37.5 hours is worth £19,200 for 22.5 hours. The hourly rate stays the same, and only the hours change.
Enter the full-time salary, the full-time hours and your hours, and the page shows the share of the job you work, your pay for the year, the month and the week, and the hourly rate. If you start or finish part way through a year, add the first and last day you work and it counts weekdays in that period against the weekdays in the year to show the pay for that time.

Frequently asked questions
How is part-time pay worked out from a full-time salary?
Multiply the full-time salary by your weekly hours divided by the full-time weekly hours. Holiday entitlement is worked out in the same proportion to your hours.
How do I work out a part-time salary?
Divide your hours by the full-time hours and multiply by the full-time salary. 24 hours out of 37.5 is 64%, so £40,000 becomes £25,600.
What are the full-time hours?
Check the job advert or your contract. Common weeks are 35, 37.5 and 40 hours, and the answer changes with the figure you use.
How is pay for part of a year worked out?
The page counts the weekdays between the two dates and divides by the weekdays in the year of the first date. It does not remove bank holidays, since those are usually part of holiday entitlement.
Is the figure before tax?
Yes. The amounts are gross, so tax and National Insurance are taken from them. Use a take-home pay calculator to see what you keep.
