About Military Time Converter

Military time is the 24 hour clock written without a colon. 0000 is midnight, 0600 is six in the morning, 1200 is noon and 2359 is one minute before the next day starts. It removes the confusion between morning and evening, which is why the armed forces, hospitals, airlines, railways and emergency services use it, and why you will see it on timetables and tickets in the UK. This converter turns a 24 hour time into ordinary 12 hour time with AM or PM, and works the other way round too.

Type 1830, 18:30 or 18.30 for a 24 hour time, or 6:30 pm for a 12 hour time. The page shows the result, the version with and without a colon, and how the time is said aloud, for example 1400 as fourteen hundred hours. Frequently asked questions

How do I convert 1830 to normal time?

Subtract 12 from the hour for anything above 12 and add PM. 1830 becomes 6:30 PM.

Is 0000 or 2400 midnight?

Both mean midnight. 0000 is the start of a day and 2400 is the end of the day, which is the same moment as 0000 on the next date. 0000 is the more common form.

Is 12:00 AM midnight or noon?

12:00 AM is midnight and 12:00 PM is noon. To avoid doubt you can write midnight or noon, or use 0000 and 1200.

How is military time said?

Each hour is said in full: 0800 is zero eight hundred hours, 1445 is fourteen forty-five hours and 0005 is zero zero zero five hours.

Does it handle seconds?
