Day of the Week Calculator
Choose a date to see the weekday, plus the day number, week number and how far away it is. A table shows the weekday of the same date in later years.
Dates are counted in the Gregorian calendar that the UK has used since September 1752. Earlier dates are shown as if that calendar had always been used.

About Day of the Week Calculator
A day of the week calculator tells you whether a date is a Monday, a Saturday or any other day. People use it to find the weekday they were born on, to check a date in a family history record, to see which weekday an anniversary or a deadline will fall on, and to settle an argument about what day a historic event happened. Pick the date and the weekday appears at the top, with the day number in the year, the week number and how far away the date is from today.
The table underneath shows the same date in each of the following ten years. A date moves forward one weekday each year, or two after a leap day, so you can see in which years your birthday, wedding anniversary or holiday lands on a weekend. For a 29 February date the table lists the next leap years instead. Dates are in the Gregorian calendar, which Britain adopted in September 1752, and earlier dates are shown as if that calendar had always been used.

Frequently asked questions
What day of the week was I born on?
Enter your date of birth and the weekday appears straight away. For example 1 January 2000 was a Saturday.
Why does a date move by one weekday each year?
A normal year has 365 days, which is 52 weeks and one day, so every date moves one weekday later. After a leap day it moves two.
Does it work for dates before 1752?
It will give an answer, but it uses the Gregorian calendar throughout. Britain used the Julian calendar until September 1752, so historic dates may have been recorded differently at the time.
How is the week number worked out?
It follows the international standard, where weeks begin on Monday and week 1 is the week that contains the first Thursday of the year. Early January can therefore be in the last week of the previous year.
Which years can I check?
Any year from 1 to 9999.
