What quality should I choose?
For photographs, 50 to 70 is a good range. Start at 60 and look at the result. Raise the number if you see blocks or smearing, and lower it to save more space.
Is the transparency kept?
Yes. Transparent areas in PNG, WebP and GIF files stay transparent in the AVIF file.
Can everyone open AVIF files?
Current versions of the major browsers show them, but some older programs and websites do not. Keep your originals and offer a JPG or WebP for anything that has to work everywhere.
Why does conversion take a few seconds?
AVIF files take more work to create than JPG files. Large pictures take longest, so set a smaller longest side if you only need the picture for a web page.
