Ejemplos resueltos

Previewing a shop page

https://shop.example.co.uk/candles typed into the address box

Title: "Handmade Candles | Example Shop" (33 characters). Description: present. Open Graph title, description and image: all found. The previews show how the page could appear in search and in a shared link.

This is an illustrative result; the previews are approximate because each search engine and app decides how to display a page.

Finding a missing description

https://example-club.org.uk typed into the address box

Title: present. Description: not found. Search previews will show text chosen by the search engine instead of a summary you wrote.

Adding a meta description gives you control over the summary shown in results, which is why a missing one is flagged.

Sobre Meta Tag & Open Graph Checker

A meta tag checker reads the tags a page uses to describe itself to search engines and social networks. Enter a web address and you see the title, description, canonical link, robots instruction, language and viewport, along with the Open Graph and card tags that control how a link looks when shared. A checklist points out anything missing or too long.

Two previews give an approximate idea of how the page might appear in search results and as a shared link. Each search engine and app decides how to display a page, so treat the previews as a guide. Tags are read as the page is first delivered, so anything added later by scripts is not seen.

Preguntas frecuentes

What are meta tags?

Meta tags are short pieces of information placed at the top of a web page. They give the title, a summary, the preferred address, instructions for search engines and details used when the page is shared. Visitors do not normally see them, but search engines and apps do.

How long should a title and description be?

Titles of about 30 to 60 characters usually show in full in search results, and descriptions of about 120 to 160 characters tend to fit. These are guides rather than fixed limits, because the space available depends on the device and the search engine.

What is Open Graph?

Open Graph is a set of tags, such as og:title, og:description and og:image, that tell social networks and messaging apps what to show when someone shares a link. Without them, an app has to guess, and the preview may look plain or show the wrong image.

What does a canonical link do?

The canonical link names the main address for a page. If the same content can be reached at several addresses, it tells search engines which one to treat as the original, which avoids splitting attention between duplicates.

Why are some tags missing that I can see in my page source?

Tags are read from the page as it is delivered. If a script adds or changes tags after the page has loaded, those changes are not seen here. Tags also need to be in the head section of the page, near the top, to be found.
