Checking a site is up
https://shop.example.co.uk typed into the address box
Online. The server replied with HTTP 200 OK, and the page loaded in under a second from our server.
This is an illustrative result; the reply shows what our check received, which can differ from what a visitor sees in another region.
Checking a redirecting address
http://example-club.org.uk typed into the address box
Redirected: a 301 sent the request to https://example-club.org.uk, which replied 200 OK. The check followed up to five redirects.
Following redirects shows the final address that visitors reach, so a redirect loop would be reported as a failure.
Sobre Website Status Checker
A website status checker tells you whether a site is responding and how it behaves. Enter an address and the tool requests the page, follows up to five redirects and reports whether the site is up, the status code returned, how long it took to answer and how many redirects were followed. It helps separate a problem with the site from a problem with your own connection.
The check is made from our server in a single place, so a result may differ from what you see elsewhere. Only public web addresses on the standard ports are checked. A status in the 500 range points to a server problem, while 400 range codes usually mean the page itself is missing or restricted, even though the site is running.

Preguntas frecuentes
How do I check if a website is down?
Enter the address and select Check status. If the page loads, the result shows Up with the status code and response time. If the connection fails, times out or the server reports an error, the result shows Down with a short reason.
What do the status codes mean?
Codes starting with 2 mean success, and 3 means a redirect to another address. Codes starting with 4 mean the request could not be met, such as 404 for a missing page. Codes starting with 5 mean the server had a problem, so the site is treated as down.
Why does it say up here but the site does not work for me?
The check runs from one location, so problems with your own connection, network settings, browser or a regional fault would not show. Try another network or device, clear your browser data, or check again later in case the issue is local to you.
Which addresses can be checked?
Public websites on the standard web ports, 80 and 443, can be checked. Addresses that point to internal networks, local machines or unusual ports are refused on purpose. If you leave out the http or https part, https is tried.
What does the response time show?
It is the total time taken for the requests needed to reach the final page, including any redirects. A single figure can vary from one check to the next, so run the check a few times before drawing conclusions about the speed of a site.
