About Quote and Estimate Generator
A good quote shows the client exactly what they will get and what it costs, and makes it easy to say yes. This generator lays out a quote or an estimate on a single A4 page with your details, the client, a reference and date, a table of work and prices, the totals, your terms and, if you want, a block for the client to sign and date to accept. Download it as a PDF to send by email or print.
You can mark any line as an optional extra. These are listed under the main table with their prices but are not included in the total, which is a neat way to offer add-ons without raising the headline figure. A percentage discount comes off every line, VAT is worked out at the rates you choose, and a deposit percentage shows the amount due on acceptance and the balance after it. A validity period turns into a date on the page, so there is no argument later about how long the price stands.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a quote and an estimate?
A quote is a fixed price you commit to. An estimate is your best guess of the cost, and the final price can change if the work changes. Choosing Estimate adds a line on the page to say so.
How are discounts and VAT worked out?
The discount percentage is taken off each line, then VAT is worked out on what is left, at the rate chosen for each line. Everything is calculated in whole pence and totalled.
How do optional extras work?
Tick Optional extra on a line and it is listed under the main table, but left out of the total, the discount and the deposit. The client can ask for it when they accept.
Is a quote legally binding?
A quote that is accepted can form a contract. State what is and is not included and how long the price stands, and take advice if the job is large or unusual.
Can I change the document after I download it?
Change anything on the page and create the PDF again. The new file replaces the link on the page.
