PIN Generator
Choose a length and how many PINs you want. Obvious choices such as repeated digits, straight runs, repeating pairs and common keypad shapes are skipped, and you can avoid years like 1985 too.
Worked examples
Possible PINs by length
4, 6 and 8 digits
10,000, then 1,000,000, then 100,000,000
Ten possibilities for each digit, so ten to the power of the length.
About PIN Generator
Most people choose PINs that are easy to guess: 1234, 0000, a birthday or a year. A PIN generator avoids that by choosing every digit at random. This one then goes a step further and throws away the PINs a thief would try first, such as all the same digit, straight runs like 1234 or 9876, repeated groups like 1212 or 123123 and a few common keypad shapes such as 2580.
Choose a length from 3 to 12 digits, how many PINs you want and which clean-up rules to apply. You can also skip anything that looks like a year from 1900 to 2029, and ask for no digit to be used twice, though that slightly narrows the choice. The page tells you how many possible PINs there are at that length, so you can see why a longer PIN is better.

Frequently asked questions
How many 4 digit PINs are there?
There are 10,000, from 0000 to 9999. Skipping the obvious ones removes only a small share of them, so the remaining PINs are still plentiful.
Which PINs does it skip?
PINs with all digits the same, straight runs up or down (counting round from 9 to 0), a short group repeated to fill the length, a handful of common keypad shapes, and optionally four digit years from 1900 to 2029.
Is a longer PIN better?
Yes. Each extra digit multiplies the possibilities by ten, so a 6 digit PIN has 100 times as many possibilities as a 4 digit one. Use the longest your card or device allows.
Should I use the same PIN for everything?
No. If one PIN is seen or guessed, every account that uses it is exposed. Use a different one for each card and device, and do not write it on or near the card.
Can I set a PIN from here on a bank card?
You can use a PIN you like on any card or device that lets you choose its own. Many banks assign the PIN or let you change it only at a cash machine or in their app, so follow your bank's instructions.
