BBCode to HTML
Paste forum markup and get HTML you can use on a web page. Text and links are cleaned as they are converted, and tags that do not match are left as typed.
Worked examples
Bold, link and list
[b]Hello[/b] [url=https://example.co.uk]site[/url] [list][*]one[*]two[/list]
<strong>Hello</strong> <a href="https://example.co.uk" rel="nofollow noopener">site</a><br> <ul> <li>one</li> <li>two</li> </ul>
Each tag becomes its HTML equivalent.
About BBCode to HTML
BBCode is the square bracket markup used by many forums and message boards. When you want to move a post to a web page, an email or a new site, you need real HTML. This converter handles the common tags: bold, italic, underline and strikethrough, links and email links, images, quotes with an optional name, code blocks, bulleted and numbered lists, colour, size, alignment and horizontal rules. Nesting works, so a bold word inside a quote inside a list converts correctly.
Everything you type is escaped first, so angle brackets in a post cannot become live HTML. Links and images are converted only when the address starts with http, https or, for links, mailto, and colours must be a plain name or hex value. Text inside a code tag is shown exactly as typed. Tags that do not match or are not recognised are left as typed, so nothing is lost. Line breaks can be turned into line break tags or left alone.

Frequently asked questions
Which tags are supported?
b, i, u, s, strike, url, email, img, quote, code, list with [*] items, color, size, center, left, right, justify and hr.
Can scripts typed into a post get through?
No. Angle brackets and ampersands in your text are escaped, and only web or mailto addresses become links, so they are not turned into live code. Always review the result before publishing.
How do I make a numbered list?
Use [list=1] and put [*] before each item. A plain [list] gives bullets.
What happens to a tag with no partner?
It is left as typed, for example [b] with no [/b] stays [b], so you can see and fix it.
