Writing two letters in binary
Hi, in the binary option
01001000 01101001
Each letter is one byte of eight digits, here H as 01001000 and i as 01101001.
Writing letters in hexadecimal
Hi, in the hexadecimal option
48 69
Hexadecimal is a shorter way of reading the same bytes, so 48 is the same value as 01001000.
O narzędziu Text to Binary Converter
A text to binary converter shows how a piece of writing is stored as numbers. Every character is kept as one or more bytes, and a byte is a group of eight binary digits. This tool lets you see those bytes in binary, hexadecimal, decimal or octal. Type text in the first box and the numbers appear in the second, or paste numbers into the second box to read the text they represent. Changing the number system updates the numbers without changing the text.
Plain letters, digits and common symbols take one byte each, so the word Hi is two bytes in every system. Accented letters, many symbols and emoji need two to four bytes, which is why the count of bytes can be higher than the count of characters. The tool shows the number of bytes as you work, so you can see how much space a message takes. It is useful for learning, checking data and reading values in technical documentation, and it helps explain why some messages take longer to send than others.

Najczęstsze pytania
How do I convert text to binary?
Type or paste your text into the Text box. The binary numbers for each byte appear straight away in the numbers box, with a space between each group of eight digits. Hi becomes 01001000 01101001, which is one byte for H and one byte for i. Select Copy beside the numbers to take them to another document.
What is the difference between binary, hexadecimal, decimal and octal?
They are four ways of writing the same byte value. Binary uses only 0 and 1, decimal uses 0 to 9, hexadecimal uses 0 to 9 and A to F, and octal uses 0 to 7. A byte always holds a value from 0 to 255, so the same byte is written as 01001000 in binary, 48 in hexadecimal, 72 in decimal and 110 in octal.
Why do some characters take more than one byte?
Computers store text using a system that gives each character a number, and the number can need more than one byte. Plain English letters, digits and basic symbols fit in one byte. Accented letters use two bytes, many symbols use three, and emoji use four. That is why the byte count can be higher than the number of characters you typed.
Can I turn numbers back into text?
Yes. Paste the numbers into the numbers box using the number system chosen at the top. Spaces between the bytes are optional for binary and hexadecimal, so 0100100001101001 and 4869 both read as Hi. If the numbers do not form readable text, the tool explains which item is not a valid byte or says the bytes do not make text.
Why does the tool show an error for some numbers?
Each byte must be a number from 0 to 255, and each group must use digits that belong to the chosen system. A value such as 300 in decimal is too large for one byte, and 9 is not valid in octal. The message names the item that caused the problem, so you can correct that part and the rest of the text will update.
