Word to PDF reads a .docx document and lays it out as a tidy PDF. Titles and headings, bold and italic text, bullet points, numbered lists, centred and right-aligned paragraphs and page breaks are kept, and long paragraphs are wrapped to fit the page.
This is a simplified layout, not an exact copy. Pictures are left out, tables are shown as plain rows, and columns, text boxes, headers, footers, colours and the original fonts are not kept. The result tells you what was simplified in your document.

Why do some letters show as a question mark?
The PDF uses a standard typeface that covers Western European letters. Characters outside that set, such as Japanese or Greek, are shown as a question mark, and the tool counts them for you.
Is the text kept as real text?
Yes. The PDF holds real text, so you can select, search and copy it.
