Esempi svolti
Splitting a bill four ways
Bill £40 with a 10% tip and 4 people
Tip £4.00, total £44.00, and each person pays £11.00.
The tip is 10 per cent of £40, and the total is then split equally between the four people.
Two people sharing a meal
Bill £52 with a 15% tip and 2 people
Tip £7.80, total £59.80, and each person pays £29.90.
Each share is rounded to the nearest penny, so the two shares add up to the total shown.
Informazioni su Tip Calculator
A tip calculator helps you work out how much to add to a bill and how to share the total fairly between everyone paying. Enter the bill amount, choose a tip percentage and say how many people are splitting it. The tip, the total and each person's share update as you type, so you can try a few percentages before deciding. The currency can be set to pounds, US dollars or euros. This changes the symbol but does not convert the amounts, so it suits a bill that is already in the currency you need.
Turn on the rounding option if you would rather each person pays a whole number. The calculator rounds each share up to the next full unit and shows how much extra that adds across the group, so the final figure is never a surprise. Figures are estimates only and are not advice. Some venues already include a service charge, so check the bill carefully before adding a tip on top of it. The same approach works for a family meal, a night out or a business lunch, where the group may want a neat, even split.

How do I work out a tip on a bill?
Multiply the bill by the tip percentage and divide by 100. For a £40 bill with a 10% tip, 40 multiplied by 10 is 400, and dividing by 100 gives a tip of £4. Add the tip to the bill to find the total, which here is £44. This calculator does those steps for you as soon as you enter the figures, so you can compare several percentages side by side.
What tip percentage should I leave?
The right amount depends on where you are and the service you received, so there is no single rule that applies everywhere. Many people leave around ten to fifteen per cent for good table service, but some places already add a service charge. Check the bill first. Use the calculator to see how different percentages change the total before you decide what to leave.
How do I split a bill between several people?
Enter the bill in the first box, set the tip if needed, then enter the number of people in the people box. The calculator divides the total including tip by that number and shows each share to the nearest penny. If people are paying different amounts for different items, use the figures as a starting point and adjust them between yourselves.
What does rounding up a share mean?
Rounding up means each person pays the next whole pound, dollar or euro instead of an amount with pence. The calculator shows the rounded share and the extra amount this adds across the group, so you can decide whether the simplicity is worth the small difference. The overall total is then a little more than the bill and tip added together.
Does this calculator change currencies?
No. Choosing pounds, US dollars or euros only changes the currency symbol and the way the amounts are displayed. If your bill is in one currency and you want to pay in another, convert the bill first using the exchange rate your bank or card provider gives you, then enter the converted amount here.
