Domande frequenti
What is E.164?
It is the plain international format: a plus sign, the country code and the number with no spaces, such as +442079460958. Many systems and forms ask for it.
Does it check that the number is in service?
No. It checks that the number has a shape that is used, such as 11 digits for most UK numbers, not whether anyone can be reached on it.
How are numbers from other countries shown?
The country code is found and the rest is grouped in threes, with US and Canadian numbers shown as 3, 3 and 4. This is a simple layout, not each country's own style.
Why is a number marked as not recognised?
It may have too few or too many digits, start with a code that is not used, or have a country code the tool does not know. Check the digits and try again.
