Informazioni su UK Degree to US GPA Converter
People moving between UK and US study often need a UK degree result expressed as a US grade point average, or the other way round. UK degrees are classed as a First, an upper second (2:1), a lower second (2:2) or a Third, usually from an average mark out of 100, while US colleges use a GPA out of 4.0 built from letter grades. The two systems do not line up exactly, because UK marking rarely awards very high percentages, so a mark of 70% is outstanding in the UK but would be only a C if the scales were compared directly.
This converter uses one commonly used guide to give you a good estimate. Choose a degree class or type your exact percentage and you see a typical GPA and letter grade. You can also start from a US GPA and see the closest UK class. There is no single official conversion, since each university, employer and credential service applies its own, so use the result as a guide and check what the organisation reading your result expects.

What is a UK first class degree in US GPA?

What is a 2:1 in US GPA?
An upper second class degree (2:1), from 60% to 69%, is commonly converted to between 3.3 and 3.7, which is a B+ or an A-. This tool gives 3.7 for 65% to 69% and 3.3 for 60% to 64%.
What is a 2:2 in US GPA?
A lower second class degree (2:2), from 50% to 59%, is commonly converted to between 2.7 and 3.0, a B- or a B. A Third, from 40% to 49%, is commonly 2.0 to 2.3.
Is this the official conversion?
No. There is no single official conversion between UK degree classes and US GPAs. Universities and credential evaluation services each publish their own tables. Use this page for an estimate and follow the table the organisation reading your result gives you.
Why is a UK percentage lower than a US percentage?
UK marking rarely awards marks above 80%, so the whole scale is compressed. A 70% is excellent and 60% is a good result. In many US courses 70% is only a C, which is why a straight comparison of percentages is misleading.
