DRAFT across every page
Text DRAFT on a 4 page PDF at 25 per cent strength
The word DRAFT centred on all 4 pages, drawn over the content and faded so the text underneath still shows.
Around 20 to 30 per cent works well for DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL, because the page stays readable.
CONFIDENTIAL on one page
Text CONFIDENTIAL on page 2 of a 4 page PDF only
The word CONFIDENTIAL on page 2, and pages 1, 3 and 4 unchanged.
Pages can be given as a list with ranges, so the mark appears only where it is needed.
À propos de Add a Watermark to PDF
A watermark tells readers what status a document has, for example DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, COPY or SAMPLE. This tool stamps text across the middle of the pages of a PDF, either on a diagonal or straight across, and lets you choose the size, colour and how strong it looks so the page underneath stays readable. The wording is drawn in bold lettering and centred on each page, so it reads clearly even when it is faint. You can try different settings as often as you like, because the file you chose is never changed and each run makes a fresh copy.
By default every page is marked, but you can type a list of pages such as 1-3, 5, 8- to mark only those. The strength setting works like see through ink: a low value gives a faint mark, and a high one makes it solid. If the wording would be wider than a page the tool warns you, so you can lower the size. The built in lettering covers Western European characters, and anything else becomes a question mark. Each run gives you a fresh copy.

Questions fréquentes
How do I add a watermark to a PDF?
Choose your file, type the wording, pick diagonal or straight across and set the size, strength and colour. Select Add watermark and download the new file. The original is untouched, so you can change the settings and run it again if the result is too strong or too faint.
What strength should I use?
Between 15 and 30 percent works well for most documents because the page stays easy to read while the mark is still clear. Use a higher value if the watermark must be hard to miss, and a lower one for pages with small print or photographs.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Type the pages in the box, using commas between pages and a dash for a range, for example 1-3, 5, 8-. A range such as 8- runs to the last page. Leave the box empty and every page in the document is marked.
Why does the tool say the wording is too wide?
The text is larger than the page at the size you chose, so part of it would be cut off at the edge. Lower the text size, shorten the wording, or switch from diagonal to straight across if your wording is longer than the page diagonal.
Can I use an image or logo as a watermark?
This tool is for text only. For a logo, add it to the document before saving it as a PDF, or place a signature or stamp image using the sign tool. Text watermarks such as DRAFT cover most day to day needs without a picture.
