À propos de Barcode Reader

This reader decodes a barcode from a picture. Choose a photo or screenshot that contains a barcode and the number or text it holds is shown, together with the type of barcode, so you can copy it into a search box, a spreadsheet or a stock system. If what the code holds is a web address, an Open this address button appears beside the Copy button.

It reads the common product and shipping barcodes: EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF and Codabar. It also reads the square and stacked codes, which are QR, Data Matrix, PDF417 and Aztec, and some others such as GS1 DataBar. If the picture is large it is tried at several sizes, which helps with photos taken close up.

The number shown is everything the barcode holds. For a product code such as EAN-13 that includes the check digit at the end. Only the first picture you choose is read, so for a sheet of labels, crop or photograph one barcode at a time. If nothing can be read you are told so, and a sharper, larger or better lit picture with the whole code in view usually fixes it.

Comment utiliser Barcode Reader

  1. Choose a picture, or drop one onto the page. A photo or a screenshot both work.
  2. Wait a moment while it is read. A small preview of the picture is shown.
  3. Check the contents and the format in the result.
  4. Press Copy to take the number, or Open this address if the code holds a link.

Questions fréquentes

Which barcodes can it read?

EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF, Codabar, QR, Data Matrix, PDF417 and Aztec, and also some others such as GS1 DataBar.

What makes a read fail?

Blur, glare across the bars, a steep angle, a low resolution picture, or a barcode that is cut off. Keep it flat, sharp and fully in view, with its quiet margins showing.

Does the number include the check digit?

Yes. A product code such as EAN-13 ends with its check digit, and it is part of the number shown.

Can it read several barcodes in one picture?

It reads one code per picture. If there are several, crop the picture so only the one you want is in it.

How do I make a barcode?

Use the barcode generator, which makes Code 128, EAN-13 and UPC-A barcodes.
