Ejemplos resueltos
The 3, 4, 5 triangle
Side a 3, side b 4
Side a: 3 Side b: 4 Hypotenuse c: 5 Area: 6 Perimeter: 12 Angle opposite a: 36.87 degrees Angle opposite b: 53.13 degrees
The hypotenuse is 5.
Find a short side
Side a 5, hypotenuse 13
Side a: 5 Side b: 12 Hypotenuse c: 13 Area: 30 Perimeter: 30 Angle opposite a: 22.62 degrees Angle opposite b: 67.38 degrees
The missing side is 12.
Sobre Pythagorean Theorem Calculator
This calculator finds the missing side of a right-angled triangle. Enter any two sides, leave the third empty, and it works out the missing one using a² + b² = c².
You also get the area, the perimeter and the two angles that are not the right angle. The hypotenuse is the longest side, opposite the right angle. Any unit works, and the answer comes out in the same unit.
Cómo usar Pythagorean Theorem Calculator
- Enter two of the three sides.
- Leave the third box empty.
- Read the missing side, area, perimeter and angles.
Usos habituales

Preguntas frecuentes
What is the Pythagorean theorem?
In a right-angled triangle, the square of the longest side equals the sum of the squares of the other two: a² + b² = c².
Which side is the hypotenuse?
The longest side, opposite the right angle. It is c in the formula.
Why do I get an error?
If you enter the hypotenuse and another side, the hypotenuse must be the longer one. All sides must be more than zero.
How are the angles worked out?
Using the inverse tangent of the two shorter sides. The two angles always add up to 90 degrees.
