Days until New Year

Today as 15 October 2026, target 1 January 2027

78 days, and 2 months and 17 days in calendar terms.

The count starts from today and does not include today itself.

Days until a birthday in March

Today as 15 October 2026, target 14 March 2027

150 days.

Months follow the calendar, so the figure counts real days rather than a set number of 30-day months.

Sobre Days Until Calculator

A days until calculator counts the number of days between today and a date you choose. It is useful for countdowns to a holiday, a wedding, an exam, a due date or a deadline at work. Results are shown in days, then broken down into whole weeks and days, and into calendar months and days. The month count follows the calendar, so a count from 15 October to 25 December is shown as two months and ten days, which is easier to picture than 71 days on its own.

Three quick options sit above the date box. The next Christmas picks 25 December, the next New Year picks 1 January, and the next Easter Sunday uses the date of Easter for the coming year. Easter moves between late March and late April, so it is worked out with a standard calculation rather than taken from a fixed date. Each option counts from today, so you can see how long remains until the next one, whatever the time of year.

Preguntas frecuentes

How does the calculator count the days?

It counts whole calendar days from today to the date you enter. Today is not included in the count, so a date one day away shows as 1 day. If you enter today's date, the result shows as today. Dates that have already passed show how many days ago they were, so you can tell at a glance whether an event is coming up or has gone by.

How is Easter Sunday worked out?

Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March, in the calendar used by most Western churches. This calculator uses a standard formula for the Gregorian calendar, which gives the correct date for any year in the modern calendar. The quick option always picks the Easter Sunday that falls after today, so it skips an Easter that has just passed.

Why are the months and days different from the total days?

Months have different lengths, from 28 to 31 days, so the total days cannot be split into months exactly. The calculator moves forward one whole calendar month at a time from today and then counts the leftover days. This is why a count from 15 October to 25 December shows as two months and ten days, which is easier to picture than the 71 days shown in the main result.

What is the next Christmas?

The next Christmas is the next 25 December that falls after today. If Christmas is still to come this year, the count goes to this year's Christmas Day. Once Christmas has passed, the calculator moves on to the following year. The same rule applies to New Year, which is 1 January, and to Easter Sunday, so each quick option always points to a date in the future.

Can I count to a date many years away?

Yes. The calculator works with any date from the year 1000 up to the year 9999. For distant dates, the total days, weeks and months are still exact, because each one is worked out from the calendar. The count uses today's date, so the number falls by one each day as time passes.
