Über Ideal Weight Calculator

This ideal weight calculator shows what four well known formulas suggest for your height: Hamwi, Devine, Robinson and Miller. It also converts the NHS healthy BMI range of 18.5 to 24.9 into a weight range for your height, so you can see all the guides together in kilograms, stones and pounds.

These are rough guides only and not medical advice. The formulas were written decades ago, give different answers and ignore age, muscle, bone structure and health. A GP or practice nurse can tell you what weight is right for you.

Häufige Fragen

Why do the formulas give different answers?

They were created by different people for different purposes and groups. There is no single ideal weight, which is why the tool shows a range as well as each formula.

Which formula should I trust?

None of them on its own. The healthy BMI range used by the NHS is a wider and more widely used guide, and even that does not suit everyone.

Do these formulas allow for muscle or age?

No. They use only height and sex, so a muscular person or an older adult may have a healthy weight outside the results.

Is this medical advice?

No. If you are worried about your weight, speak to a GP or practice nurse.
