Valtrinity vs iLovePDF

iLovePDF is a specialist: its whole site is built around PDF work, from merging and compressing to OCR, redaction and comparison, with desktop and mobile apps. Valtrinity has a set of PDF tools too, but PDF is one group among many on a site that also holds calculators, converters, text, image, developer and website tools. If PDF is your main job, the comparison will favour iLovePDF in several places, and we say where.

Valtrinity is a rival of iLovePDF, so weigh our view with that in mind. We read their pages on 18 October 2026 and list every one at the bottom of this page. iLovePDF changes its limits and plans from time to time, so check its pricing page before you rely on a figure. We have not tested the output quality of either site, only what each says it offers.

PDF tools in detail

iLovePDF's tool menu runs through merge, split, remove and extract pages, scan to PDF, compress, repair, OCR, conversions from JPG, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and HTML to PDF, conversions from PDF to JPG, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF/A, rotate, page numbers, watermark, crop, edit, unlock, protect, sign, redact and compare. It also lists an AI summariser, a translator and a PDF to Markdown tool.

Valtrinity covers the everyday ground: merge, split, compress, rotate, reorder and delete pages, add page numbers, add a watermark, sign, unlock, images to PDF, PDF to JPG, PDF to text, PDF to Word, Word to PDF and text to PDF. Two of ours are simplified. Our PDF to Word keeps text and headings but not columns, tables or pictures, and our Word to PDF leaves pictures out. Our compress tool reduces photos stored as JPEG and says so when it cannot make a file smaller. A scanned PDF holds pictures of pages, so our tools cannot read it; our Image to Text tool reads English text from a picture instead.

Limits and prices

iLovePDF's comparison table sets limits per task rather than per day. Without a plan we saw 25 files and 100 MB for merge, 2 files and 200 MB for compress, and 1 file and 15 MB for PDF to Word. Its individual plan lists the same tools with 4 GB file sizes and larger batches. That plan costs £5 a month billed yearly, which is £60, or £9 billed monthly, and a business plan is quoted on request. For PDF work alone, that is cheaper than Valtrinity Unlimited, which is £29.99 a month or £249 a year.

The comparison is not like for like. Valtrinity's PDF tools need no plan, and our file tools have no daily count. We do not publish a table of file size limits, so test a large file before you rely on it. Unlimited is for the extras: it raises server lookups to 1,000 a day and writing runs to 100 a day, and it removes adverts. A tool pass costs £1.49 for 24 hours.

Adverts, sign-up and file handling

iLovePDF lists an experience without adverts among the features of its individual plan, which suggests the version without a plan carries adverts. Valtrinity shows adverts on tool pages unless you have Unlimited. iLovePDF's FAQ says it keeps files for a maximum of 2 hours so you can download them, and that you can delete a document yourself at the end of each conversion. It also lets you import files from cloud storage services.

Valtrinity needs no account for most tools. An account raises the daily lookup allowance from 5 to 10, and the daily allowance for our writing tools from 3 to 10.

Apps and languages

iLovePDF offers a desktop app for Mac and Windows and a mobile app for iOS and Android, and lists integrations. Valtrinity is a website only, so if you need to work offline or on your phone through an app, iLovePDF has the advantage.

iLovePDF lists 26 languages in its language menu. Valtrinity offers menus, buttons and headings in nine languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish and Japanese. The explanation under each tool is in English only. We have not tested either site with a screen reader.

Which should you choose?

Choose iLovePDF if PDF is your main task, particularly if you need OCR for scanned files, full conversions to and from Office formats, redaction, comparison, large batches, or a desktop or mobile app. Choose Valtrinity if you need the everyday PDF jobs of merging, splitting, rotating, signing and compressing alongside other kinds of tool on the same site, and you would rather not set up a plan for them.
