Najczęstsze pytania
How do you take VAT out of a price?
Divide the price with VAT by one plus the rate as a decimal. For example, at 21% divide by 1.21. Taking 21% off the price instead gives the wrong answer.
Which EU country has the highest and lowest rate?
Hungary has the highest standard rate at 27% and Luxembourg the lowest at 17%. Reduced rates run as low as 5% in many countries.
Are these rates the same as UK VAT?
No. The UK left the EU and sets its own rates, with a standard rate of 20%. Use the VAT calculator for UK VAT.
Do these rates apply to every sale?
They are the domestic rates in each country. Sales between businesses in different EU countries are often zero rated with the reverse charge, and sales to consumers can follow the rate of the buyer’s country under the EU one stop shop scheme.
