GB82 WEST 1234 5698 7654 32

This is the standard example IBAN used in documentation.
One digit wrong
DE89370400440532013001
DE89 3704 0044 0532 0130 01: not valid, the check digits do not match
The last digit was changed, so the check digits no longer agree.
Over IBAN Validator
This validator checks IBANs, the international bank account numbers used for payments in Europe and many other countries. Paste one per line and each is tested for the length its country uses and for correct check digits.
A number that passes is shown in groups of four with the country name. One that fails says why: the wrong length, an unknown country or check digits that do not match. A passing result means the number is well formed, not that the account exists.

Veelgestelde vragen
Does a valid result mean the account exists?
No. It means the IBAN is correctly formed, with the right length and check digits. Only the bank can confirm that an account exists, so confirm payee details with the person or business you are paying.
How long is a UK IBAN?
It has 22 characters: GB, two check digits, four letters for the bank, then the six digit sort code and eight digit account number.
Which countries are covered?
All the countries in the IBAN registry that use the standard length rule, from Albania to the United Kingdom, including the main European countries.
Why does it say the check digits do not match?
The two digits after the country code are worked out from the rest of the number. If any character is wrong, they will not agree. Compare the IBAN with the source.
