Exemples détaillés

Two chapters

A 2 page PDF. Each page has a 24 pt heading (Chapter 1, Chapter 2) and two paragraphs. Pages: start each page on a new page.

2 pages, 78 words, 2.4 KB. Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 become Heading 1, followed by their two paragraphs each.

The line that was split with a hyphen in the PDF is joined back into one word.

A scanned page

A PDF that holds only a picture of a page.

No text was found. This PDF may be made of pictures of pages, such as a scan, which hold no text to convert.

Nothing is downloaded because there is no text to put in the document.

À propos de PDF to Word

PDF to Word pulls the text out of a PDF and saves it as a .docx document you can edit in Word or any other word processor. Lines are joined into paragraphs, hyphenated words are put back together and larger text is marked as a heading.

It is a text conversion rather than a copy of the page. Columns, tables, pictures, headers and footers do not come across as they looked, and a scanned PDF holds pictures instead of text, so there is nothing to convert. The tool tells you when that is the case.

Questions fréquentes

Will the layout stay the same?

No. You get the text in reading order with paragraphs and headings. Columns, tables, pictures, headers and footers are not carried across, so expect to restyle the document.

Why is my Word file empty or missing text?

A scanned PDF is made of pictures of pages, so it holds no text to read. The tool says so when it finds none. Words inside pictures are not converted.

How are headings found?

Text that is clearly larger than the main text and short enough to be a title is marked as Heading 1 or Heading 2. Check them, because the guess is based on size alone.

Can it open a locked PDF?

Not until it is unlocked. If you know the password, the Unlock PDF tool saves a copy without it, which you can then convert here.
