Exemples détaillés

A heading and a paragraph

<h2>Tea</h2><p>Hot &amp; <em>fresh</em></p>

## Tea Hot & *fresh*

The entity is decoded and the italic text is wrapped in asterisks.

A list with a link

<ul><li>One</li><li><a href="https://example.com">Two</a></li></ul>

- One - [Two](https://example.com)

Each list item gets a dash and the link keeps its address.

À propos de HTML to Markdown Converter

This converter turns HTML into Markdown. Paste a whole page or a small snippet and the headings, emphasis, links, images, lists, quotes, code blocks and tables are rewritten in Markdown form, ready for a README, a static site or a note-taking app.

Scripts, styles and comments are dropped. Tags that Markdown cannot express, such as div and span, are removed but their text is kept, so nothing is lost. Entities such as &amp; and &pound; are turned back into the characters they stand for.

Questions fréquentes

Which HTML elements are converted?

Headings h1 to h6, paragraphs, bold and italic, strikethrough, links, images, ordered and unordered lists with nesting, block quotes, preformatted code, inline code, horizontal rules, line breaks and tables.

What happens to div, span and other tags?

They are removed and their content is kept in place. Block tags such as div start a new paragraph, so the text still reads in the right order.

Are tables supported?

Yes. Rows are written as pipe tables, the first row becomes the header and a divider row is added. Merged cells are not represented in Markdown, so each cell is written once.

Will the Markdown look exactly like the original page?

Not always. Markdown describes structure, not layout, so colours, fonts, columns and spacing are not carried across. The headings, text, links and lists are.
