An age calculator turns a date of birth into an exact age. Instead of only whole years, you see the full figure in years, months and days, along with the total number of months, weeks, days and hours lived. It also shows the weekday of birth and how many days remain until the next birthday.
The second date starts as today but can be changed to any day, which lets you work out an age at a past event or on a future date, such as the first day of school or a retirement date. People born on 29 February are counted as having their birthday on 1 March in years that are not leap years.

How do I calculate my exact age?
Enter your date of birth and leave the second date as today. The calculator subtracts whole years first, then whole months, then the remaining days, and shows the result. It also gives your total months, weeks, days and hours so you can see your age in other units.
Can I find an age on a different date?
Yes. Change the date in the second box to any day, past or future. This is useful for working out how old someone was at an event, or how old they will be on a particular day, such as the start of a school year.
How are months counted?
Months are whole calendar months. From 15 May to 15 June is one month, whatever the number of days in between. When the day of the month in the later date is smaller than the earlier one, a month is borrowed and the days are counted from the previous month.
What happens with a 29 February birthday?
In years that are not leap years, the birthday is counted as 1 March for the next birthday countdown. The exact age in years, months and days still uses the calendar dates entered, so it stays consistent with the dates shown.
Why does it say my date of birth must be earlier?
The date of birth has to be on or before the date you are measuring to. If it is later, the age would be negative. Check that the day, month and year are entered correctly, particularly if you are using a date format from another country.
