Über Background Remover

Background Remover makes a plain background transparent. Choose a picture, click the colour you want to remove, adjust the tolerance and edge softening while the preview updates on a chequered background, then download a PNG.

It works by colour only. It does not recognise people or objects, so it suits plain backgrounds such as a white wall, a studio backdrop or a flat graphic. Busy backgrounds, and subjects that contain the same colour as the background, will not come out cleanly.

Häufige Fragen

Does it use artificial intelligence?

No. It removes pixels that are close to one colour you choose. That is why plain backgrounds work well and complicated ones do not.

What does tolerance do?

It sets how close to the chosen colour a pixel must be to be removed. Zero removes only that exact colour. Higher values remove shades of it too, and too high a value eats into the subject.

What is the edge only option?

When ticked, only background that connects to the edges of the picture is removed, so matching colours inside the subject stay. Untick it to remove the colour everywhere.

Why is there a pale outline?

Edges blend the subject with the background. Raise the tolerance a little or the edge softening by one to reduce it.
